Maximum height estimation for mine waste dumps

چکیده
Waste dumps are widely used to discharge stripped mine wastes in open pit mining methods. As progresses, the height of waste will increase gradually, which may induce sliding failure once exceeds a critical value. Therefore, estimation maximum dumping is crucial life-cycle use dump. However, published information about extremely rare. In this study, estimated based on strength-reduction technique by numerical simulations. The influences dump geometry and properties investigated. results show that decreases as slope inclination angle or unit weight materials y increases, but when shear parameters (cohesion c internal friction 9) increase. starts with ground p occurs at interface between base. Furthermore effects width B, Young's modulus E, Poisson's ratio u almost insignificant. Good agreement was found available literature those obtained study.

Metal extraction competence of plants on waste dumps of magnesite mine, Salem District, South India
An ex-situ experiment to assess the metal extractive potential of fourteen agriculture plants (Vigna unguiculata, Gossypium hirsutum, Jatropha curcas, etc.) was conducted on Magnesite mines which had above permissible levels of Cadmium and Lead. There was no much difference in the total chlorophyll a and b, carbohydrate and protein contents in the plants grown in the mining soil and adjacent co...
متن کاملPsychosocial impact of toxic chemical waste dumps.
On the basis of three years' intensive observation of the community and interactions at the Love Canal in Niagara Falls, NY, the present study addresses the psychosocial problem of creating and maintaining trust between the residents of an area contaminated by toxic waste materials and the government-sponsored scientific researchers and other health professionals who worked and studied there (t...

متن کاملIdentification of the Origin and Behaviour of Arsenic in Mine Waste Dumps Using Correlation Analysis: A Case Study Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine
Knowledge of the probable origin and behaviour of arsenic certainly gives valuable insights into the potential for transfer in the environment and of the risks involved in mining sites. Sequential extraction analyses are common experiments often used to study the origin and behaviour of potentially toxic elements. The method, however, presents some deficiencies, including labor-intensive proced...
متن کاملChapter 11: Mine Waste Dump
The Overburden of waste and uneconomic mineralized rock is required to be removed to mine the useful mineral resource in a surface mining operation. In this process a dump is formed by casting the waste material and dumping it in nearby area. The dump so formed is known as mine waste dump. Waste dump may be classified as internal and external dump. External dump is created outside the pit where...
